App Design
Redesigning & improving the usability of a website

My Role
UX Designer
Project
Redesign website as an app
Date
Jan 2019 - March 2019

Project goal
The goal of this app design was to take a poorly designed website and create an app that will allow users to complete the task for which the website was intended. This app is a redesign of the University of Waterloo's Stratford campus's patron portal that allows students to book out project rooms.
Design Strategies
This app design was focused on usability, taking a service that was originally not very user-friendly and redesigning it so it was very easy to navigate and understand. Having each option clearly expressed on every screen allows for easy user experience. I also created a concise brand for the University, sticking with the red and grey theme of the Stratford Campus.

Background work
This project consisted of creating high fidelity mockups, prototyping, and creating sitemaps. The User flow to the right shows the paths that users can take. I also elected to participate in user testing to make sure my design was effectively user-friendly, which provided me with positive and negative feedback which I used to perfect the design.
